Postcards, which seem like an archaic art form in the age of video calls, hold up a mirror to both personal and collective memories with their public availability.
The artist collected the postcards and some of the photographs in the collages from second-hand markets and booksellers in Istanbul. The texts in the postcards present stories that cannot be fully known, personal turning points and traces of social events in a way that triggers the imagination. Inspired by this content, the artist sees the collages she makes as two-dimensional dream scenes that she sends in response to postcards in symbolic communication with the past.
